A small group of film and cinema enthusiasts from Zurich founded the non-profit association International Arab Film Festival Zurich (IAFFZ) in 2008 with the purpose of giving the Swiss audience a better understanding of Arab cinema and Arab culture.
Since 2012, the IAFFZ association, in cooperation with different cinema partners, has been organising the Arab Film Festival Zurich, a biennial festival for contemporary Arab cinema. Members of the association collaborate on a voluntary basis, in the festival management, in programming or as helpers during the festival.
