You Will Die at Twenty

In a Sudanese village, the religious leader augurs to the mother of a newborn that her son will die at the age of 20. The boy grows up in a world of pious devotion to fate that makes him believe in his early death and prevents him from experiencing what life means and can mean.

Amjad Abu Alala’s subtle film shows how religious delusion can rob a person of their vitality.
