Award / Jury

This year, 2022, the festival will be bestowing awards to films for the second time.

This is to

  • further strengthen Arab filmmaking,
  • ensure attractive film premieres of Arab films in German-speaking Switzerland and to facilitate their access to distribution in Switzerland.

The jury will select two award winners from among the 13 new feature-length films: Best Director and Best Film.

Jihane Bougrine

Jihane Bougrine, born in Rabat (Morocco), grew up in the banlieues of Paris. She has made a name for herself as a singer/songwriter and as a cultural critic.

Jean Perret

Jean Perret, born in Paris, is a Geneva-based film critic and former director of the documentary film festival Visions du Réel in Nyon.

Ahmed Ghossein

Ahmad Ghossein, is a filmmaker and artist, born in Beirut. In 2020, he received the AFFZ Award for Best Director for his first film "All This Victory"
